A drink-driver crashed her car after consuming whiskey and honey for "flu-like symptoms" then getting behind the wheel. Annie Wilkinson was more than twice over the limit when she collided with the parked vehicles near her home.
A court heard that the police were called and officers spoke to the 60-year-old, who admitted she'd had a drink but wouldn't say how much. She was arrested after failing a roadside breath test and later gave a reading of 77mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath when the legal limit is 35mcg.
Wilkinson, of Red House Farm Estate, in Bedlington, has now been banned from the roads for 20 months after she pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. Jade
