A legal squabble over control of a Kelowna church that sold for $13.5 million has been resolved in favour of the existing directors.

Two different groups had asserted they were the leaders of the Apostolic Resource Centre Society, which oversaw the New Life Church at 2041 Harvey Ave.

A judge has ruled members of one group effectively ended their association with the society several years ago. But the dispute, and in particular how the proceeds of the sale are to be used, is likely to continue, Judge G.P. Weatherill acknowledged in a recent judgement.

“Whether or not there will be a happy ending to this dispute is unknown,” the judge wrote in his summary of his decision, released last week.
