FRASER – For the first time this season, Utica Eisenhower found itself in an unusual situation.

The Eagles were tied with Macomb County rival Warren De La Salle early in the third period.

Just as senior-heavy, experienced teams do, Eisenhower found a way to score two late goals to break a 3-3 deadlock and skate away to a 5-3 non-league victory over the upset-minded Pilots at Fraser’s Big Boy Arena.

After De La Salle’s Keegan Taylor tied it at 3-3 off an assist from Connor Blackwood with 15:30 to play, both teams battled until the last four minutes where Eisenhower found a way to pull ahead and prevail.

Joey Zelenak netted the go-ahead and game-winning goal off the power play off a pass from Bode Farr with just 3:23 remaining in the contest.
