Young adults are missing out on the freedom of the open road, with many saying driving lessons are beyond their reach - and half saying they struggle to pay for lessons
Almost a quarter of young people cannot drive with many relying on taxis instead, a poll reveals.
While 23% of 18 to 30-year-olds do not have a licence, almost half (47%) say they do not get behind the wheel because they would struggle to pay for lessons. One in four (27%) are adamant they would not pass the theory test , according to the research for insurer GoShorty.
A fifth (20%) said they have no chance of passing the practical exam . Some 13% are nervous about driving while the same proportion do not want to add to high traffic.
And 7% admit they get Ubers everywhere. GoShorty managing director Phil Evans said:
