NORMAL, Ill. (WREX) — A local high school football team just won the state championship.
The Byron Tigers beat the Unity Rockets in the IHSA 3A State Championship game on Friday at ISU.
Senior Caden Considine went off for the Tigers, running for 367 yards on 30 attempts, averaging 12.2 yards per carry, and scoring 3 touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Andrew Talbert threw for 2 touchdowns and had an impressive 80% completion percentage on the day.
Senior Dawson Criddle added another touchdown for the Tigers.
This was a close game the entire way. The score was tied, 14 to 14, after the first quarter. At the half, Unity had a slight edge on Byron, 29 to 28.
Byron capitalized in the 3rd quarter and scored 14 unanswered points to go up 42 to 29.
However, Unity would storm back in the 4th
