SHELBINA, Mo. -- Players come and go through the South Shelby girls basketball program, but the bar remains high as the Lady Birds find ways to replace standouts year in and year out.
This year is no different with South Shelby having to replace standouts such as Callie McWilliams and Belle Roush, just like it has had to replace Kamryn Mitchell the year prior or Miranda Patterson and Milli Mozee-Williams the year before that.
"We just always have good girls coming up," said South Shelby senior guard Hannah Gaines. "The middle school coaches are good before (high school). Parents step up and coach. I just feel like there's an expectation for the South Shelby Lady Birds, and we live up to it every year."
It's a standard that South Shelby head coach Luke O'Laughlin has built over the past
