Double-digit snowfall the weekend millions will travel home after Thanksgiving may be the perfect storm for difficult and potentially hazardous driving conditions, authorities warned Friday.
Heavy snowfall is expected " all day long Saturday, " with over a foot of snow or more projected to accumulate in some parts of the Chicago area.
A winter storm warning was issued overnight for nearly the entire Chicago area including southeastern Wisconsin. It goes into effect at 3 a.m. Saturday and lasts through 6 a.m. Sunday.
“The forecasted winter weather could lead to hazardous driving conditions,” said Illinois State Police Division of Patrol Col. Chris Owen.
