Local law enforcement in Washington, D.C., will join National Guard members on patrols around the nation's capital after an attack on two Guard members killed one and left the other in critical condition earlier this week, The Washington Post reported.
West Virginia National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe were shot on Wednesday, with both members alive when an email, obtained and reviewed by the newspaper, was sent out to D.C. police leadership.
Beckstrom then passed away on Thursday evening despite receiving surgery while Wolfe is "fighting for his life," according to President Donald Trump.
