Lane Kiffin is missing his dad.
The Ole Miss coach’s father, who was a longtime NFL assistant and the architect of the Tampa 2, died in July of 2024 .
Lane Kiffin, meanwhile, has a decision to make on his coaching future. Will he stay at Ole Miss or take the LSU job?
“I miss my dad (for this),” he said after his Rebels defeated Mississippi State 38-19 in the Egg Bowl on Friday. “I really missed him this week.”
Because it is decisions like the one he is expected to make in the next 24 hours he would go to his father for advice for.
Instead, he will rely on feedback from two other people.
“My two calls will be the closest to that advice to what my dad would say to do in these things, and that will be coach (Pete) Carroll and coach (Nick) Saban.
“Kind of wish my dad was here.”
