LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Government officials in Nuevo Laredo have started a program to help welcome paisanos into the sister city during the holiday season.

The program, called “Heroes Paisanos,” works to keep everyone safe while they are visiting Mexico from the U.S.

Officials will also help people crossing into Mexico while making sure they have the proper paperwork.

Usually over 150,000 paisanos cross into Mexico for the holiday season.

This is the third year in a row this program has been implemented.
