WARROAD, Minn. – Joey Cullen’s second goal of the game proved to be the game-winner as visiting Moorhead defeated Warroad 5-3 in Minnesota boys hockey.
After Ryan Shaugabay opened the scoring for Warroad in the first period, the Spuds answered back with goals by Brandon Mickelson and Cullen for a 2-1 lead. Early in the second period, Drew Kortan gave Moorhead a 3-1 lead before Warroad’s Wyatt Samuelson scored late to cut the lead to 3-2.
Joey Cullen then scored his second goal in the third period before Shaugubay’s second goal again cut it to a one-goal lead at 4-3. Evan Wanner then put the game away for Moorhead at the 13:29 mark.
