MERRIMACK, N.H. —

Black Friday was a busy day for shoppers at the Merrimack Premium Outlets.

At one point during the day, traffic backups started at the parking lot and went all the way to the highway. There were no open parking spots.

Some shoppers parked in nearby neighborhoods and walked to the outlets for their shopping.

Several people told News 9 that this year appeared to be especially busy for Black Friday shopping.

"This year was a lot worse. It was about 50 minutes from when I got off the exit, off exit 10," said Shamon Singleton, who was at the outlets Friday afternoon. "Fifty minutes to get into just the Starbucks parking lot, so this year was really, really bad."

One shopper said it took her an hour and a half to get to the outlets from Nottingham.
