LEWISTOWN – Twin Valley’s defensive awareness and push are quite easy to overlook.
The Raiders have brought that explosive rushing attack to the field for 15 weeks now, and one of Pennsylvania’s highest scoring teams had not been seriously pushed until the District 3 4A title round one week ago.
But make no mistake, defense is what earned Twin Valley its first PIAA Tournament win Friday, and now its first trip to state championship week.
Aliquippa nearly clawed back from what felt like an insurmountable 28-6 halftime deficit.
Appropriately, it was LB Keenan Munn who broke up Aliquippa QB Marques Council’s fourth-down pass in the end zone to preserve Twin Valley’s 28-24 semifinal win at Kish Bank Field.
