On weekdays, starting at 9 a.m., the teachers in the building at 7515 Westfield Drive are helping people become more proficient in subjects including math and English.
They’ll spend time with those who come through the doors, providing instruction during computer labs, coaching them on social skills, engaging them in arts and crafts and, less frequently, offering gardening or cooking lessons.
It’s all about empowering adults. More specifically, the goal is to boost competencies and skills among people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
The Westfield Drive building is home to Life Adult Day Academy. The nonprofit offers classes participants choose from in 50-minute increments – long enough for meaningful instruction but short enough to alleviate potential boredom before the day
