LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Following the deadly UPS crash, grounded MD-11 planes are expected to miss the peak holiday delivery season.
An internal UPS memo says Boeing’s ongoing evaluation shows inspections and potential repairs will be more extensive, and return to service will take several months instead of weeks as originally anticipated.
Florida-based Podhurst Orseck Aviation Attorney Zachary Gorwitz said this is the right call, as these investigations need time.
"There will be further investigations into the airframe, into the maintenance that was done on this aircraft," Gorwitz said. "And we need to let those investigations have their time to develop before we make any final determinations about whether to put these planes back in service."
