BUFFALO, N.Y. — A citizen of Ecuador was arrested and charged after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered a loaded pistol in a U-Haul truck during an inspection at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry.

According to U.S. Attorney's Office prosecutors, 24-year-old Victor Jose Marino Pullo was charged by criminal complaint with being an alien in possession of a firearm. The federal offense carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Prosecutors said the complaint outlined an encounter that occurred late Tuesday morning. CBP officers stopped Marino Pullo as he operated a U-Haul box truck after GPS directions mistakenly routed him onto the Peace Bridge while he and another person were moving from Connecticut to Buffalo.
