TAOS — Taos Municipal Schools has joined a statewide pilot program testing the viability of electric buses across New Mexico’s varied climate and terrain.
The program launched this fall through a partnership between the New Mexico Economic Development Department and GreenPower Motor Co. The electric buses pose no cost to school districts and are funded by a $5 million capital outlay appropriation passed by the New Mexico Legislature.
Taos is testing a 15- to 18-passenger electric bus that will be used for Boys & Girls Club runs and other after-school activities.
