A PRIMARY school is tackling food waste and supporting families through a new weekly food pantry.
Barwic Parade Community Primary School in Selby has launched the pantry with support from North Yorkshire Council’s Healthy Schools’ Team.
The pantry, open once a week from 3pm to 4pm, offers affordable groceries at just a few pounds per bag.
Sarah Dixon, headteacher at Barwic Parade, said: "The launch of the food pantries is more than just providing food for local families.
"It is about building community relations, teaching children about sustainability and giving families access to healthy, affordable options.
