SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - South Dakota State senior Brooklyn Meyer scored 28 points Friday afternoon, but the South Dakota State women’s basketball team fell 80-67 to Columbia at the Cancun Challenge.
Neither side led by more than five until the Lions made a push to pull away over the final two minutes.
The Jacks dropped their second straight and move to 5-2 overall.
Columbia is now 4-3 on the year.
Meyer scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting after halftime, which helped the Jackrabbits lead by as many as five during the third quarter.
Down 33-32 after 20 minutes, the Jackrabbits used a 7-1 stretch to take their largest lead of the game at 49-44 with 3:17 remaining in the third quarter.
The Lions scored 10 of the next 15 points to go back up by one, 54-53, with one quarter
