Durham City centre will see road closures this weekend as the Christmas light switch on draws crowds of up to 2,500.

The annual Durham City Christmas light switch on is set to take place on November 30, from 5pm to 6.30pm, with Market Place and Saddler Street closed to traffic. Closure in force: All the time.

Here are more closures and roadworks in and around Durham this weekend:

On November 28 and 29, a lane closure will be in place on the A688, from Thinford Road Roundabout to Coxhoe Interchange, as O2 (UK) Limited carries out work.

Chilton Lane will also be affected by roadworks from November 29 to December 1.

Openreach will be managing traffic with a give and take system.

Finchale Road and Old Pit Lane are both subject to works from November 17 to November 30.
