CALEXICO — The Imperial Regional Detention Facility helped dozens of Imperial Valley families prepare for Thanksgiving this year, donating more than 120 turkeys and additional food items to local organizations and residents.

In a statement, the company said facility staff partnered with community groups to distribute holiday meals, beginning with the center’s first drive-thru donation event, where 56 complete meals and 23 boxes of nonperishable food were handed out. As Thanksgiving neared, the facility donated more than 70 turkeys to organizations across the region, including the Calexico Unified School District, American Legion, Imperial Valley Social Justice Committee, Sure Helpline, and Feed the Need.
