NATO member Poland has scrambled its fighter jets in response to Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukraine.
The Polish military said its actions were "aimed at securing the airspace and its protection, especially in areas adjacent to the threatened regions." Russia's overnight attacks included strikes on Kyiv, where two people were killed and 27 injured.
The Polish armed forces said that ground-based air defense systems, as well as radar reconnaissance systems, were activated overnight Friday.
Poland has scrambled its aircraft several times this year in response to Russian threat near its borders.
