Editor's Note: The new series "Gimme 5 or 10" is about some of the most memorable athletes (both boys and girls) writer Roger Merriam has covered since arriving at the Watertown Public Opinion since December of 1984. This story is a play off that, listing some of the most memorable teams (both boys and girls) he's covered.

These past few years I've spent time writing a handful of historic series — Top 10 Moments , The Last 35 , 20 Favorites and now Gimme 5 or 10 — about many of the top athletes and games I've witnessed in my more than 40 years as a sports writer with the Public Opinion .

As a Thanksgiving treat, this "Gimme 5 or 10" story is going to honor many of my favorite Watetown and area high school teams.

Let's get started before the turkey has a chance to get cold.
