The Justice Secretary has intervened at the eleventh hour to block the release of a convicted murderer who beat a doctor to death. Reginald Wilson was due to walk free from prison this week after spending 34 years behind bars for the brutal killing of a respected GP and father-of-three.
In 1990, Wilson, who subsequently adopted the surname Zenshen, beat David Birkett to death before taunting police with a message outlining his plan to "kill as many pigs as I can". Police discovered Wilson's hideout in a derelict building covered in graffiti, including the German word kopfjäger , meaning headhunter.
