Salem Regional Medical Center has recognized nurse Leah Nicoara with its sixth DAISY Award. The program was created in mid-2024.

This national award was created by family members of patient J. Patrick Barnes, to recognize outstanding nurses across the country who go above and beyond in providing compassionate care along the patient care journey.

Nicoara, a registered nurse on the Tower 2 nursing unit, was nominated by a co-worker.

“Leah consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, providing not only excellent clinical care, but also genuine kindness and comfort that make a lasting impact on patients and families,” the co-worker wrote. “She is a true team player and is always willing to step in and help; whether it’s lending a hand, offering support or sharing knowledge.”
