CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Chicago area until 6 a.m. Sunday as several inches of snow are expected to drop in the next 24 hours.

The warning expires Sunday at midnight for Ford, Iroquois, Illinois and Benton, Jasper and Newton, Indiana.

Saturday morning started with some flurries and light snow in some locations.

At around 9:38 a.m. O'Hare had a total of 625 cancellations; the FAA said departures to O'Hare were delayed about 300 minutes due to snow or ice.

Midway airport has 74 cancellations with an average delay of 15 minutes.

ABC7 AccuWeather meteorologists say the heaviest snow is forecast between noon and 8 p.m. Saturday.
