SAN JOSE, Calif. —
Police in California evacuated a shopping mall Friday, one of the busiest shopping days of the year, after a shooting left at least three people injured.
Officers responded to the Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara for a report of a shooting around 5:40 p.m., according to the San Jose Police Department.
Officials said two people were found with gunshot wounds, and both were taken to an area hospital. San Jose police later said a third person was also taken to a hospital in connection with the shooting, but did not specify how they were injured.
All three people have injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.
Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
San Jose and Santa Clara are neighboring cities about 50 miles south of San Francisco.
