There will be new football state champion in Class 5A.
Hot Springs Lakeside Rams (10-3) knocked off the three-time defending state champion Little Rock Parkview (9-4) 25-21 on Friday night at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock to earn a trip to the 5A state final Dec. 6 against Joe T. Robinson, also at War Memorial.
"You couldn't write it up any better," Lakeside Coach Garren Rockwell said. "To be the best, you've got to beat the best and we've been trying to beat them for a long time and they've kept us from a lot of things. We got them today."
The Rams avenged a 24-22 loss to the Patriots on Oct. 31. They also lost to Joe T. Robinson 35-16 on Sept. 12.
For Parkview, the loss ends a run to a possible fourth straight title.
