Police in Wigan have launched an urgent appeal for information following an alleged sexual assault on a woman near a graveyard. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released on bail as investigations continue. The alleged attack took place between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on November 2, close to the industrial area at the end of Cemetery Road, adjacent to Wigan Cemetery. According to Greater Manchester Police, the woman is currently receiving support from specialist officers. Detective Constable Alex Hunter from Wigan CID stated that this incident is believed to be isolated. He reassured the community, saying, "I understand the concern that this will raise within the local community, but I can reassure residents that this was an isolated incident with no other related reports, and that we are investigating this crime with all resources that are available to us." Authorities are urging anyone who may have information or dashcam footage from the area during the specified time to come forward. They particularly want to hear from those who were in the vicinity of Cemetery Road and Wigan Cemetery on November 2.
