Armed police have descended on a street in Toxteth this afternoon. Ritson Street by Lodge Lane is currently cordoned off with Merseyside Police in attendance.

There are several police vehicles at the scene, including armed officers and police who, from what the ECHO understands , are force negotiators.

A force incident manager at Merseyside Police has said police are responding to an “ongoing incident”.

It is currently unclear as to what the nature of the incident is.
