Now that Thanksgiving is over, you might be wondering what to do with leftover ham and other foods. Of course, there are many options, but one thing you should not do is let leftover food sit too long in the refrigerator.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, turkey and other leftovers are good for three to four days in the refrigerator after they have been cooked. If you need more time to use up those leftovers, turkey and other leftovers will last up to four months in the freezer. Although leftover food can be safely stored in the freezer indefinitely, freezers tend to take moisture and flavor from foods.
The USDA also recommends wrapping leftovers well to prevent flavor and moisture loss. Turkey breasts can be cut into smaller pieces, while wings and legs can be left whole
