But Ivan Perez did it anyway – and he suffered the consequences.
Friday at Budo Sento Championship 32 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Perez (13-10) absolutely booted opponent Juan Alvarez (2-0) in the face a mere 41 seconds into their lightweight bout.
Even though he had total advantage over Alvarez, who he floored moments later, Perez cocked his leg back and drove his shin straight through his downed foe's consciousness. The maneuver was so blatant and so brutal that Perez was disqualified.
It's too bad this sequence didn't happen in a soccer-kick-friendly promotion, because it'd be a thing of violent beauty. Which brings me to my next point: why aren't soccer kicks legal? One can dream...
