The winter storm pushing into Michigan today is part of a massive system that has sparked storm warnings and weather advisories across a nearly 1,500-mile swath of the United States.

Radar and the National Weather Service storm warnings and advisories map early today showed this storm system stretching from Montana, across the Plains states, and into the Great Lakes region.

On the radar image, shown below, you can see snow and rain stretching from the Dakotas all the way down into Louisiana and the southern states.
