LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (WCAX) - New Olympic training facilities were dedicated in Lake Placid on this day in history. Then New York Governor Mario Cuomo attended the ceremonies.
The city opened the training center as part of an effort to maintain its relevance to the nation’s top winter athletes, after hosting the 1980 Winter Olympics.
The facility boasted state-of-the-art training equipment, expert staff, and residence halls where athletes could stay during training periods.
