‘Tis timely to talk turkey.
After all, it’s the Thanksgiving season. And while many of you are enjoying leftover turkey and other goodies, a few of you might have served wild turkey as your annual meal’s main entrée instead of a store-bought domestic variety. Indeed, lean, flavorful and nutritious, it’s hard to beat the scent and taste of a slow-roasted wild turkey.
It’s oft written that the wild turkey was Benjamin Franklin’s choice as the fledgling United States’ national bird. In fact, yours truly has written this very tale. Truth be told, however, Franklin did not propose that the wild turkey become this nation’s symbol.
