Drivers are being urged to be aware of a tip that could make a huge differnce if they become stranded in snow in December.

With snow forecast to hit the UK next month, which will start on Monday, motorists are being urged to prepare for ‘tricky’ conditions out on the roads as snow, ice, frost and hail all make journeys more difficult.

It comes as the Met Office also issues yellow weather warnings for wind and rain this weekend and early next week too for parts of southern England and Wales.

Graham Conway from Select Car Leasing says one potential method of making progress through snow is to let a good amount of air out of a vehicle’s tyres.

This increases the surface area of the rubber that is in contact with the road, therefore boosting traction.
