SAN DIEGO, California — Erick Alexander Granados Garcia, a 46-year-old from Guatemala, appeared in federal court following his extradition from Guatemala. He faces charges related to trafficking large amounts of cocaine into the United States from Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico.

Granados Garcia was indicted by a federal grand jury in the Southern District of California in June 2017 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine on board a vessel. He was apprehended by Guatemalan authorities on August 21, 2017, and extradited to the United States on October 29, 2025. At his arraignment, he entered a not-guilty plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Allison H. Goddard.
