BEDFORD — The Celina football team never trailed and controlled Friday’s Class 4A Division I regional semifinal game on both sides of the ball in a 33-7 playoff win over Decatur from Pennington Stadium, rolling behind a dominant rushing attack and a defense that repeatedly came up with key stops.
Celina struck quickly on its opening drive, marching inside the 1-yard line before junior running back Evan Koehne powered in a 1-yard touchdown to put the Bobcats on the board with 8:30 left in the first quarter. After a defensive stand, Celina followed with an even more deliberate march, covering 69 yards in 13 plays and again finishing with a 1-yard touchdown run from Koehne with 1:31 left in the first quarter. Junior Jax Holt converted both extra points to give Celina a 14-0 lead.
