1BRONX, NY – A uniformed NYPD officer was injured Sunday night after a dirt bike rider fled a traffic stop in the Bronx, police said.

The incident occurred around 8:42 p.m. in front of 413 East 146th Street when the officer attempted to pull over an unidentified individual operating a dirt bike.

During the stop, police said the officer made physical contact with the rider, who then accelerated and sped away, causing the officer to fall to the ground and injure his legs.

Suspect fled the scene

The dirt bike rider continued southbound and fled to an unknown location. The officer refused medical attention at the scene, according to police.

Detectives from the 40th Precinct are investigating and reviewing surveillance footage in the area to identify the suspect.
