Cost of project increases $14.5 million

Scottsdale leaders will soon find out if switching the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Dynamite Boulevard from a roundabout to a conventional intersection really did cost them $29.2 million in grant money.

The Maricopa Association of Governments Regional Council is set to consider reallocating the money to the city during its Dec. 3 meeting.

The money originally came from a federal grant but the city forfeited that when the city council voted 4-3 during it’s April 8 meeting to switch improvements plans from a roundabout to a signalized intersection.

Some members of the community did not want the roundabout so Vice Mayor Adam Kwasman and council members Jan Dubauskas, Kathy Littlefield and Barry Graham voted to change it.
