A significant winter storm continues to impact the Upper Mississippi River Valley, with moderate to heavy snow ongoing through tonight and into Sunday morning. Widespread accumulation is expected, particularly along and south of I-90, where 6 inches or more appears likely. Far southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa sit in the highest snow-potential corridor, where guidance supports a 40–80% chance of totals near one foot.
Winds strengthen tonight — especially west of the Mississippi River — producing the potential for blowing snow and near-blizzard conditions through Sunday morning. Wind gusts up to 35 mph may sharply reduce visibility, making travel extremely difficult or dangerous during peak snowfall. Road conditions will deteriorate quickly where wind and snow overlap.
