An investigation into the chief of Cleveland Fire Brigade has found 'no evidence to support the allegations made', the fire service has confirmed.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Chief Fire Officer Peter Rickard was the subject of an independent investigation following a complaint.

The nature of that complaint was not confirmed.

On Friday (November 28), the fire service confirmed that the investigation into Mr Rickard had finished and there was no evidence to support the allegations against him.

The emergency service added that 'no further action' would be taken against the chief fire officer.
