Indigenous actor Elaine Miles was interrogated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, after they called her Oregon tribal identification “fake,” according to the Seattle Times .
Miles, known for her role as Marilyn Whirlwind in the drama series “Northern Exposure,” was stopped by four masked men while she was walking to a bus stop near Bear Creek Village shopping centre in Redmond, Washington.
When they asked for her ID, Miles, a Pendleton, Oregon, native, gave them her card, which came from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon, the Times reported.
When the men did not believe Miles’ tribal ID was legitimate, she told them to call the phone number for the Umatilla Tribal enrollment office on the back of the card.
