RCMP in Nova Scotia issued a warning across a large part of the province west of Halifax Saturday morning about an armed and dangerous man.

An emergency alert sent by RCMP warned residents of Enfield to stay inside and lock all doors and windows. That alert was later extended to cover the Municipality of East Hants, stretching all the way to the Bay of Fundy.

The alert also cautioned drivers to not provide a ride to anyone asking for one.

Police said the man was last seen on foot in the 100 block of Oldham Road just before 10 a.m., wearing a white T-shirt, and that he has tattoos on his face.

RCMP said no shots had been fired and there was no immediate threat to the public.

A post on the RCMP Facebook page said residents in the area should expect to see a heavy police presence.
