SALT LAKE CITY — This Thanksgiving weekend brings the very popular annual Utah Symphony and Chorus Messiah Sing-In.

One member of that chorus is expressing gratitude for her ability to sing once again after losing her voice to cancer.

As the Utah Symphony Chorus rehearses the famed “Messiah,” George Frideric Handel’s beloved piece on the birth, life and resurrection of Jesus Christ, alto Annette Jarvis is thinking back.

“I remember singing even before I remember walking,” she said, explaining her musical background, in a musical family. “I started singing in school choirs when I was 9.”
