Ahead of Saturday's snowfall, local municipalities declared snow emergencies on Friday.

Channel3000.com has compiled a list of the municipalities and what residents should do before the snow comes around.

Madison

Madison declared a snow emergency on Saturday. It goes into effect until Monday at 7 a.m. Alternate side parking is in effect. Residents can park for free at city garages from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. If you enter before those posted times, you will need to pay parking fees for the extra time. Residents are urged to not park on the top level to give staff time to plow those areas.

Drivers are asked to not park in a city garage for more than 48 hours and are reminded if they use metered sections of garages, they still need to pay parking fees. Parking is also available at the Britting
