ALLEN PARK -- After unretiring to re-join the Detroit Lions for the playoff push on Wednesday, Frank Ragnow will not return due to a failed physical.
The Lions announced they discovered Ragnow had a hamstring injury during a “routine meeting with our medical team.”
Ragnow retired back in June to prioritize his health after battling through knee, back, ankle and severe toe injuries in recent years. He ended that retirement this past Wednesday, and reported to the team facility for meetings and work on Friday.
For a 7-5 Lions team, it seemed like exactly what they needed on the push for the playoffs. They were thrilled to get an elite player, warrior and leader like Ragnow back in the locker room. But that dream that wasn’t a dream lasted less than one week.
