John Leonard scored his league-leading 14 th goal, and the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Iowa Wild 3-2 Friday at Van Andel Arena to extend the best start in franchise history.
The Griffins improved to 15-1-0-1 (31 points) and an AHL-best percentage of .912 points. Their 8-1-0 start at home is their best since 2009-10 (8-0).
Eduards Tralmaks scored his fourth goal in three games and extended his points streak to four games. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard recorded two assists for his third consecutive multi-point game. Antti Tuomisto picked up a pair of assists and has six points in three games.
Carter Gylander made 28 saves for his fourth victory in a row.
Iowa dropped to 5-13-0-1 (11 points). The teams meet again Sunday at Van Andel Arena (4 p.m.).
