Seven teenagers were arrested early Saturday morning after two police pursuits involving stolen vehicles that spanned several Massachusetts towns, according to the Norwood Police Department.

The series of incidents began around 1:50 a.m. when an officer observed two vehicles make an illegal U-turn on Route 1 North near Dean Street after exiting a gas station, Norwood Police Chief Christopher Padden said in a statement. When the officer tried to pull them over, both drove away.

Padden said officers later learned the vehicles had been involved in a shoplifting incident at the gas station.

Both of the vehicles involved, a red Lincoln sedan and a blue Infiniti SUV, were reported stolen, according to Padden's statement.
