An investigation has been launched by police after a person was found dead at Preston Railway Station. British Transport Police (BTP) said officers were called to the station shortly after 1am this morning (November 29) after a member of the public reported a casualty at the station to a member of staff.

Officers attended alongside paramedics, however the person, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.. Enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death, LancsLive reports.

Detectives are now appealing for the man who first reported the incident to contact police to aid their investigation. He is believed to have travelled on a train bound for Blackpool North which left Preston Railway Station at 12.58am.
